The ten lectures in this course provide an opportunity to address some of the most innovative and cutting-edge aspects of the current European digital regulatory framework.

The focus on data strategy, artificial intelligence, platforms, and digital markets will allow an understanding of the issues concerning the governance of new technologies.

Objectifs

These video-lectures enable students to acquire the tools to understand the development of the digital economy and European strategy, including by specific analysis of the most current issues under discussion: from covid-19 tracking apps to mass surveillance and algorithmic decision-making, which will have an ever-increasing impact on the rights, digital or otherwise, of citizens. After engaging with the contents presented in this course, including the associated exercises, readings and multimedia material, the student should be able to demonstrate an awareness and proficiency in the various topics.

Programme

These lectures analyze through the lens of democracy and digital rights guarantees the regulatory challenges posed by technology and the strategy and subsequent applications undertaken at the national and European level.

Entraînements

At the end of this module, the student is expected to answer to open questions related to the main issues the video-lectures refer to.
